How ‘bout another cut from Tegan and Sara’s forthcoming pop opus Heartthrob? (via Listen: Tegan and Sara – “Now I’m All Messed Up” | Under The Radar)

One continent is barely big enough to contain Tegan and Sara Quin. They’re Western Canadians by birth, but years ago Sara Quin headed east, to live in Montréal and New York, leaving the territory left of the Continental Divide to sister Tegan. Still, twins are twins, and 3,000 miles can’t change the fact that Tegan and Sara’s similarities go beyond appearance and a love of music. In separate interviews for Under the Radar’s Protest Issue, we discovered remarkably similar attitudes in the girls on a host of issues, including assimilation, activism, bullying, and same-sex marriage. And a big revelation in our conversation with Tegan Quin, who divides her time between L.A. and Vancouver: even though her Canadian home base would allow her to marry her longtime girlfriend, the couple has chosen not to, as a matter of principle. Still engulfed in a massive worldwide tour in support of their latest album El Camino, The Black Keys managed to find room in their already busy schedule to book a few extra U.S. shows along the west coast. Quin sisters Tegan and Sara revealed that they are currently at work on their seventh studio album. The as-of-yet-untitled effort will follow 2009’s Sainthood, and is being produced by three separate producers: Greg Kurstin (The Shins, Sia), Mike Elizondo (Regina Spektor, Rilo Kiley), and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Neon Trees, M83). Tegan and Sara plan to master their sixth studio album, Sainthood, at the beginning of August and release it at the end of October. Classic Interview: 

Born in 1980, Sara Quin was too young to experience the juggernaut that was Phil Collins during the mid-1980s. As a solo artist and the lead singer of Genesis, Collins became a persistent hit-maker and pop culture presence, from his chart-topping theme song to the 1984 film Against All Odds and his 1985 transatlantic Live Aid performances, to the use of “In the Air Tonight” on Miami Vice, and the Genesis track “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight” in Michelob commercials.
