We still don’t know when Janelle Monáe plans to put out her new album Electric Lady. But she’s already gotten the party started with new track “Q.U.E.E.N.” The track (featuring Erykah Badu) got a video today. (via Watch: Janelle Monáe – “Q.U.E.E.N.” Video | Under The Radar)

Always looking for the next weird thing to do in the realm of musical distribution The Flaming Lips recently pressed a limited number of vinyl copies of their collaborative Record Store Day album Heady Fwends with actual samples of blood from the album’s contributors, including Chris Martin, Ke$ha, Nick Cave, Erykah Badu, and others. Much like everyone else The Flaming Lips are set to release an exclusive set of songs for next month’s upcoming Record Store Day celebration. Unlike everyone else the compilation features an all-star set of guest contributors including Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Nick Cave, Neon Indeon, Yoko Ono, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Erykah Badu, and-ahem-Ke$ha. The Flaming Lips are hard at work on their collab-heavy Record Store Day release, and over the weekend Wayne Coyne posted the first genuine song from their time in the studio called “Now I Understand.” (via Listen: The Flaming Lips and Erykah Badu - “Now I Understand” | Under The Radar)
At this point The Flaming Lips need to just set up a direct feed into the Under the Radar news room, as they seem to just continue to do something of note almost every week. This time around it’s footage posted of the band with Wilco’s Nels Cline, performing a 17-minute rendition of The Beatles’ classic “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”, professionally filmed during the group’s big New Year’s Eve Freakout in Oklahoma City.
